We have had some patients ask what precautions we have taken to decrease the risk of COVID-19 exposure. Here is the list and a short video:
Office adjustments
- New disinfection protocols on all touched surfaces between every patient
- Office air purifier
- Large plexiglass breath shields-front desk, both pretest rooms
- Small plexiglass breath shields- on equipment doctor and optician use when near patient
- Removed reception chairs except one
- Replaced fabric chairs in office with plastic, easily cleaned chairs
- Removed items that patients touch (pens, magazines, etc)
- Playroom closed
- Door locked. No walk-ins. Must have appointment.
- Contact tracing log
- No patients allowed in optical area without team member
Team members
- Wearing scrubs
- Wearing masks
- Gloves when appropriate
- Hair pulled back
- Temperature screening/symptom screening upon arrival
Patients/Visitors
- Screened for COVID-19 symptoms and body temperature taken before entering the office
- Mandatory face coverings
- Minimizing paper exchange by using patient portal
Scheduling
- By appointment only
- Only one doctor seeing patients at a time until June 15th
- Restricting number of people in the office. Patient plus one parent/caregiver.
- Schedule high risk patients at times to minimize exposure
- Continue to offer telemedicine when appropriate
- Intake forms will soon be online
