This past Sunday marked five years since Michelle Layman joined Crozet Eye Care‘s team.

Michelle is our practice’s contact lens technician, as well as our optometric technician. Five years ago, she originally applied for a front a desk position, but I knew there was a better fit for her. It turns out I was right! She very quickly mastered all of the ins and outs of the pretesting, contact lenses, and assisting during the exams. Earlier this year, she passed her Certified Paraoptometric exam.

It is Michelle’s excellence as a paraoptometric that led to her recent well-deserved award for 2013 Virginia Paraoptometric of the Year. This is one of the top honors in this field. We couldn’t be more excited for her.

Outside the world of eye examinations and contact lenses, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband and two children.  She also creates custom, hand-made jewelry with Knot Just Pearls.
