Information for our patients in light of the COVID-19 outbreak

Dear Crozet Eye Care friends,

Every day I read more about COVID-19 and find myself having to consider it from many perspectives. As a health care provider, I think about how it is impacting the health care system as many individuals are working tirelessly to help manage and contain the virus. As a mom, I am trying to calm the concerns of my children as events are cancelled and schools are temporarily closing. As a citizen, I am trying to disseminate factual information and plan for possible transient changes, which will undoubtedly come to the community. I feel it is important not to be fearful at this time, but instead make a thoughtful plan to help my family, community, and practice. Focusing on what we all CAN do to help instead of what we can’t do, will get us through this time of uncertainty.

As far as the office is concerned, here is some information we would like to share with our patients.

If you are ill and have flu-like symptoms, please reschedule your appointment.

If you have been exposed to someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19 or if you have recently traveled to a country where a large outbreak is prevalent or if you have been in close contact with someone who has, please wait at least 14 days before coming to the office.

Fortunately since we provide medical care, we have always taken precautions regarding infections. Here are a few steps we have implemented to keep our patients safe.

Entire office:

  • Educate our team on prevention of COVID-19
  • Clean high contact areas more frequently

Exams:

  • Reduce the number of patients we see each day to minimize potential contact time with other patients at our office.
  • Continue to use precautions to minimize infection

Contact Lenses:

  • Minimize the need for coming into the office to pick up trials and boxes of contacts by waiving all shipping on any size contact lens order.

Optical:

  • During the selection of frames, limit patient browsing so the optician has the opportunity to use our UV light sanitizer to sterilize glasses touched by individuals before the next patient tries them on

At this time we will continue to stay open and will notify you if that changes. Thank you for being a patient of Crozet Eye Care.

Many blessings,

Dr. Shannon Franklin
