Are you nervous about your first eye exam? Don’t be!

Our staff is well trained, efficient and personable. If you are a new patient and have not been seen in our office before, you will have detailed paperwork to complete so we can better understand your medical history and vision needs. After your registration is completed at the front desk, you will be greeted by the technician and pre-testing will begin. Pre-testing consists of detailed scans, a vision and history check, a review of your medical records, and preventative screenings. Pre-testing is used to create a baseline for our doctors. Following pre-testing, the technician will bring your doctor up to speed regarding any specific concerns and needs at that time.

Dr. Franklin or Dr. Rosinski will then greet you in the exam room. The doctor will then determine your glasses and/or contact lens prescription and discuss the right lens options to best suit you and your needs. After discussing these options with you, your doctor will then evaluate the health of the front of your eyes before dilating your eyes. Dilation of the pupils allows the doctor to examine the back of your eyes with an unobstructed view.  When your eyes are fully dilated, you may experience blurry vision whenever looking at something up close. This can last up to 4 hours.

At this point in the exam, Dr. Franklin or Dr. Rosinski will walk with you to our optical shop and meet with our Optician, who will help you find the perfect fit in a pair of glasses. The Optician will also discuss with you the recommendations that the doctor has for your needs.

After finding that perfect fit, you will come back to the exam room. During this time the doctor will check the health of the back of your eye and discuss any findings with you.
